A goal without a plan is just wishful thinking.

My resolution for 2016 is simply to keep being productive and not drop the ball(because I consider a completely valid resolution to tell myself that I’m doing a good job and to keep doing good), and to do that I’m adjusting my work schedule.  This is mostly out of necessity due to my work, but also because at the end of the week I’d like to feel more productive AND feel like I’ve made time for myself.  Previously I’ve just been trying to fill my days with as much work as possible and only let myself take a break without guilt on Sundays (basically have a checklist of things to do and as long as I got some kind of work done during the day, I wasn’t allowed to be hard on myself).  While it certainly helps to force myself to get things done and helped me to gain more confidence and feel better about myself after 2012 (work therapy, yay!), I really feel like that phase of my life has served its purpose and its time to move on and adjust to my much heavier and deadline toting workload.

So the plan is to have weekly goals.  This is sort of the test week:

  • Ink 4 pages of Circum
  • Color 1 Circum page
  • Color 2 DotL pages
  • Complete 1 commission “stage” (rough pose, sketches, inks, flats, lighting, etc) on 2 commissions.

It’s nice because currently I’m at the point where everything is balanced so as long as these things get done by the end of the week, nothing has immediate or urgent deadlines.  If I don’t get to everything, then I can assess  how I’ve been spending my time- and if I have extra time and get extra work done, it’s a bonus.

Why does this matter to you? Well, I was considering posting my weekly goals on Monday- and while I may not be able to post a lot of my work (cuz comics with update schedules) it is a way of being able to see what I’m up to and how things are progressing without that nasty radio silence.  So…  does that sound like a thing y’all might be interested in?

If you feel you have the discipline to keep posting your goals, then have at it.
