Etymology: Thor’s day

Thor, Donner or Þōrr, is the Scandinavian god of the sky and thunder. He is sired by Odin, the father of all gods and Jord, the earth goddess. He is married to Sif, the mysterious golden-haired Nordic goddess of corn and lives in the mead hall Bilskirnir in Asgard, the land where all the gods dwell. This hall, according to Grímnismál, is the best of all buildings and has 540 rooms.
He is most famously known for the hammer he wields, Mjöllnir, which means “Crusher”. This hammer is so heavy and so scalding hot, he has to wear the belt Megingjörð, to double his strength and a pair of iron gauntlets called Járngreipr. Mjöllnir was crafted by the dwarves and spews forth lightning when struck or thrown. It has magical properties that allow it to return to Thor’s hand after it is thrown. He rides through storm heads in a chariot pulled by the goats, Tanngrisnir (“gap-tooth”) and Tanngnjóstr (“tooth grinder”). When he grows hungry in his travels, he only has to eat his steeds. With a touch of his hammer’s life restoring powers, they are instantly brought back to life.

Thor’s main enemies are the frost giants and when thunder is heard and lightning clashes across the sky, you can be sure he is battling these creatures. He is known as a protector to both mortals and the gods and unlike his father, Thor requires no human sacrifices to supplement his strength, and thus is known as the strongest of the Nordic gods.
Thor’s greatest enemy is the giant serpent of Midgard, Jörmungandr. It is said they will face each other again at Ragnarök where Thor will kill Jörmungandr but won’t be able to take more than nine steps before he himself dies from the snake’s venom.

I pulled and compared multiple sources for the information and tried to make sure it was as acurate as possible. I do not claim that the above information as absolute canon.

There's still a lot of it that could use some work, but frankly at this point, I have too much to do to nitpick at it anymore.
