Kitty and Scuttlebutt

Needed to make a Kitty reference for a commission I'm buying :3

So here's some info that you really can't get from the picture itself:

Name: Katherine (Kitty) Armaretti
Gender: female
Age: 16-18ish with the mental capacity of a twelve-year-old
species: Lycanthrope
height: as a human she's about 5'4", as a wolf, her shoulder stands about 4 feet high.
Weight: as a human, Kitty is 125lbs, as a wolf her mass doubles.


Lycanthropes in my story are not your average were-wolf. It requires great energy to transform, and so consume copious amounts of food in order to do so. The energy made from excess eating is stored away to supply the lycan when they transform.

The amount of energy stored determines if the lycan can transform and for how long. If too much energy is stored for too long, they may explode into their lupine form which is very painful and because it is magic driven instead of self-willed, they are driven more by instincts than logical thought, and are driven to hunger to supply the need to replace the lost energy.

The magic amplifies the body, making it stronger, thicker and the instincts sharper.

Wolves of this world have a lifespan that is naturally longer than humans, and as such, Lycanthropes share in a longer life, provided they do not allow themselves to be overcome by stored energy and be forced to change. If it happens too often, the stress can be too much for the body to handle and the organs begin shutting down.

A lycan can survive and live a normal life on a normal diet, but will be constantly hungry and lose weight, as the magic eats at their natural reserves of energy. Register Lycans have special licenses from the government that allow them to eat practically free anywhere, but a heavy amount of restrictions are placed on them in return, largely because there is no cure for lycanthropism and because of the specific way the "magic virus" spreads, there is much need to keep it from infecting the general populace.




Name: Scuttlebutt
Gender: Male
Age: 6-9 months
species: Desert rock mouse
height: about 9 inches
Weight: 2-5 pounds depending on the season.

Rock mice live on the very outskirts of the Wasted Desert, where life begins to be able to thrive. Rock Mice spend their day eating bugs and plants and basking in the sun. Their fur is thick and grows very long, its purpose to catch and hold onto heat. When the sun goes down, so does the temperature and the Rock Mice pile in huge mounds in their burrows to keep themselves warm during the night.

They live on average, for four years, and procreate quickly. Their natural lifespan isn't determinable, as they are prey for local carnivores and more often than not are eaten before reaching old age.

Scuttlebutt was found at a very young age by Kitty while she was roaming through the desert in her wolf form. She instantly adopted and weaned the infant animal, remaining in her wolf form almost constantly. She named him after the way he runs, and Joseph is the only one of the trio to know the slang meaning of his name. Scuttlebutt regards Kitty as his mother and Joseph as some kind of father or uncle type figure, and Joseph, despite protestation, is fond of him.
